A month ago, two In-N-Out Burger locations opened in Colorado: one in Aurora and another in Colorado Springs. There were extremely long lines for their grand openings. Then last week the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) reported that there was an outbreak of COVID-19 with 80 confirmed cases between the two locations. Yesterday officials gave an update and the number of confirmed cases has risen to 142 total: 80 in the Springs and 42 at the Aurora location.
Last week the CDPHE first reported the outbreak, Denny Warnick, In-N-Out’s vice president of operations, said the affected employees and those in contact with them "have been excluded from the workplace."
"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our customers and associates. We are committed to doing our part in preventing the transmission of the COVID-19 virus," Warnick said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with our associates and we are hopeful for quick recoveries for each of those affected."
As of yesterday, there have been no deaths and no customer infections traced back to the outbreak at the two restaurants.
