WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) - Bars and restaurants around the U.S. have been joining in a viral trend of reserving a table and placing drinks at 13 seats to honor the 13 soldiers who were killed in the bombings in Afghanistan.

The nod to the fallen is even more special as a number of St. Louis-area establishments have joined, with one of the soldiers who died being a native of Wentzville. Some local restaurants have even donated some profits or had events in honor of Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz's sacrifice.
Mattingly's in Lake Saint Louis raised nearly $15,000 by donating some profits and selling raffle tickets. It's all being donated to the Schmitz family.
Dozens of local businesses are following the trend, reportedly started by a tavern in upstate New York. Since the Aug. 26 bombing, places from the Metro East to St. Charles County have shown their support.
