The shelves of a discount food warehouse in Soulard were completely wiped out last Saturday during a 'freezer frenzy" event.
The Food Outlet sits two blocks away from the Fire Department in Soulard. The family-run grocery store is owned by food distributor Food Service Center Inc. and offers bulk products at cheap prices; one example being a 10 pound bag of breaded frozen chicken tenders for $20.

Every Sunday, the Outlet holds a "freezer frenzy" event where products are marked at a even steeper discount. Store manager Laura DeCarlo has worked there for nine years but says she'd never seen the Outlet as busy as it was last weekend.
DeCarlo says some visitors are locals, but other drive hours to visit the store.
