ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - When it comes to planning a spring break trip, most people are thinking about a beach. But a new report says St. Louis is one of the best places for "grown-ups" to take a vacation this March or April.
Conde Nast Traveler, a travel guide website, named the gateway city one of "11 Spring Break Destinations For Grown-Ups" in a new post. St. Louis is listed alongside places like Maui, Belize and Mexico.
In 2019, the website also named St. Louis a "best weekend getaway" spot due in part to a growing food scene and a growing number of tourist attractions.
"The Midwest city probably brings to mind visions of smoke, ribs, and brisket, but it's so much more than just a barbecue city—in recent years, it's become a veritable food lover's paradise," the article states of St. Louis. "Take your pick from ramen bowls, po' boys, and small Italian plates (and yes, barbecue), then burn off those calories at the massive Forest Park, which should offer ideal weather come March and April."
It mentions the St. Louis Aquarium and City Museum as entertainment spots and recommends the Four Seasons St. Louis for hotel accommodations.
The other cities on the travel site's list are:
- Palm Beach, Florida
- Healdsburg, California
- Samana Bay, Dominican Republic
- Denver
- Bend, Oregon
- Oaxaca, Mexico
- Belize
- Maui
- Savannah
- Anguilla
