Random.
That's how police describe the murder of 17 year old Alyssa Wilson.
Now, a husband and wife from Texas are being charged with her death.
Wilson was found shot in her car along 170 Wednesday night.
She was on her way to the zoo.
Police say the Texas couple was on the side of the road and fired the shot that hit the back of her car, striking her and causing her to crash.
Her father Robert Hickman says she wanted to go to SIUE and study criminal justice.
"She knew what she wanted to do and what she wanted to be and every day she took strides to do that."
Hickman says, "To find out it was just a random act from people not even from the area is just very sad because they took away everything she had."
42-year old Willie Herdon is charged with first-degree murder, and his wife, 45-year old Taiya Herndon, is charged with hindering the prosecution.
