Halle Berry wants to make sure that her son understands gender stereotypes.

Berry appeared on a virtual panel hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association of the Sundance Film Festival, reports People.

Berry talked about being a mother to her 7-year-old son Maceo Martinez.

"I have a 7-year-old son, and I have realized what my job is in raising him. If we want to have a future that's different, that is where it starts," Berry said.

The 54-year-old actress is making her directorial debut at Sundance with her MMA drama, "Bruised."

"You made me think of how many conversations I've had with him, say, since he's turned 5 years old, about the differences in boys and girls, and I see how he's taught to feel like he's superior, at 5, than girls are," Berry said.

Berry said how she had to explain gender stereotypes to her son while giving him a new perspective.

"He's going to be determined not to just accept it," Berry said. "I keep challenging him all the time, like 'Well, why is that a 'girl color?'"

During the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Berry posted a video of her son walking in heels.

She captioned the post, "#Quarantine Day 12."
