A mom from Pennsylvania is warning other parents about a dangerous kid’s toy after spending 20 hours untangling it from her daughter's hair.
Lisa Hoelzle’s 6-year-old twins, Abigail and Noah, were playing with the toy “Bunchems” last month when her daughter’s hair became tangled in the sticky toy, according to TODAY Parents.
“Apparently, Noah had poured a container of ‘Bunchems’ on Abigail’s head being a jokester,” Hoelzle, 47, wrote in a now-viral Facebook post. “She had about 150 of these things layered and matted in her hair. They made it worse trying to remove them themselves…”
Eventually, Hoelzle was able to loosen the Bunchems using mineral oil and a detangling brush.
“It wasn’t magic, but I was able to start prying them out without ripping her hair,” Hoelzle told the outlet.
Product reviews on Amazon reveal multiple other parents who endured the same traumatic experience.
“10 HOURS later and we are still working to get them out - and she will likely lose half of her hair as a result,” one woman wrote in August along with a photo of a little girl’s tangled hair.
Another toy customer was left "traumatized" she was forced to cut off a large portion of her daughters hair.
“My daughter had a traumatic experience with these toys,” the woman wrote on Amazon. “They not only got stuck, but the toys seemed to get more and more matted in her hair as we tried to retrieve them.”
Lisa Hoelzle hopes to warn other parents about the dangerous toy.
“I would really like them to put stronger warnings on the labels,” she said. “My phone has literally blown up with so many people sending me pictures and saying the same exact thing happened to them,” Hoelzle revealed. “I almost feel like I need to start a Facebook ‘Survivor of Bunchems’ group.”
