LISTEN NOW: Queen Naija Talks with Audacy's Kenny Burns
“I’m happy to just have an impact on the world,” Queen tells Audacy's Kenny Burns. The 26-year-old singer joined The Kenny Burns Show to discuss her new single “Hate Our Love” featuring Big Sean. “This is another song that’s from my own experience,” said Queen. Previously, the singer-songwriter released vulnerable records such as “Medicine,” “Butterflies,” and “Karma.”
The lyrics for “Hate Our Love” was inspired by Queen Naija’s current relationship with YouTuber and influencer Clarence White. Queen admitted that social media trolls seemingly want to see her relationship fail. “It’s really just about us [the relationship] against the world no matter what nobody say,” she expressed.
When it comes to penning lyrics, the R&B singer has spur-of-the-moment writing sessions. “I don’t write every day. I have seasons of writing. Sometimes I don’t write for a month. But when I do write, it’s like song, after song, after song,” she explained.
Queen also recently had the opportunity to work with music icon Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. “...He actually reached out to me,” she revealed. “I was honored to work with him. He's super dope. He’s an OG but he’s super up to date with everything.” Queen previously confirmed an upcoming collaboration with Babyface on the daytime talk show The Real.
