Vanessa Hudgens has sparked a heated online debate after she was accused of breaking COVID-19 lockdown restrictions to take photos for social media.
The “High School Musical” star shared photos of her romping around Scotland even though the country is under lockdown due to the pandemic.
Hudgens, 32, has been living in Scotland since late last year, where she’s reportedly filming the third installment of the “Princess Switch,” according to Buzzfeed News.
Hudgens has since become very well versed with the Scottish area. On Monday, she posted pictures of herself posing by the public waterfront.
One day later, Hudgens smiled in front of a sign reading, “Loch Road.”
Fans of the star were quick to point out that the country is still under a national COVID-19 lockdown.
"[I] get that she's working on a film and that, but Jesus Christ we're all grounded by the government and she's just prancing about getting pics for the 'gram like we're not still in a pandemic," one incensed social media user tweeted.
Another tweet read, "Can't believe Vanessa Hudgens is allowed to cut about Scotland right now but I'm not allowed to go to Edinburgh to see my family through a window."
Other fans on Twitter defended the actress, pointing out that she is outdoors, and promoting jobs for the country during tough financial times.
"More than 690,000 likes on Instagram today for actress Vanessa Hudgens’ pics in front of the Forth Bridge - the kind of exposure for Scotland that money simply can’t buy,” Edinburgh-based Journalism Brian Ferguson said on Twitter. “So important that film & TV production can continue at the moment.”
This isn't Hudgens' first COVID-related controversy. Last March, she apologized after facing backlash for saying deaths from coronavirus were "inevitable."
