I believe we should get the grant so we can afford a fax class for out students who do not get taught the life lessons they need from their parents. - Katelyn Stolifer

We have been wanting to reopen our FACS program - Abbi Smothermon

We are a smaller school who would use this money gratefully to benefit us and getting a program that would maybe make the number higher of getting people from our school to really want to come to school. Our school would use this money to get Facs back and make it better. We took a survey and many people from our school would love to get this program back and your help would just be terrific! - Natlia Baron

Hello, My name is Jillian meeks. I am a Sophomore at Sherwood high school. Why I think my school should get the grant is because we need a FACS program. The FACS program helps kids learn content, skills and critical thinking in regards to family life and future careers. In our school, we have several students that really want to the FACS program, some students have even said that if we did have the program they would actually want to come to school. I know that most of my sophomore class and even the freshman class really want to have a FACS program. There has even been Middle schoolers that have went to our super intendant and talked to him about the program. I think that if our school had the opportunity to get a FACS program it would help the growth of our school. I also feel like if we had a FACS program more kids would want to come to school. If we win the 15,000 dollars we can finally help our school get a chance to have the program or even get closer to having one. Thank you for taking my school into consideration. - Jillian Meeks

Hello, My name is Kinleigh Slayden. I am a Sophomore at Sherwood high school. I think my school should get the grant because we need a FACS program, it helps kids learn content, skills, and critical thinking in regards to family life and future careers. These are some pretty important things to have in life, sadly not a lot of us know how to do things that we could learn through FACS. I know that coming to school before all this Corona stuff happened was pretty hard, lots of kids have said this would make it easier to come to school. This would not only help with life skills but could help the kids here stay motivated to stay in school. Lots of kids here have stopped showing up to school because school is hard enough as it is, then adding all these health precautions makes kids a lot less motivated and at risk of not being able to graduate. As my friends and I went up to the superintendent he told us that even middle school students have voiced an opinion on wanting to see what we can do to get the FACS room up and running. We have a FACS room, from what I have heard, the equipment in it is not too outdated. Being a new student that moved here this year, hearing stories about the way that the FACS program helped multiple students, I think it would get kids to come back to school even if it is just for a certain class. Not only do the students want the FACS program back but so do the staff here at Sherwood. If we win the 15,000 dollars we can finally help our school get a chance to have the program up and running, this would be a great thing for the students and staff, even saving lives and getting kids to have a better future. - Kinleigh Slayden

Sherwood is a small school with many low income students. These students could benefit from an enrichment grant to purchase many educational and supportive tools for betterment of these students and school. - Sarah Bradford

Sherwood hasn’t had a FACS class in a few years. Children are missing out on important skills they will need in the future. I think it will be very helpful and that the students will have fun in the class like they used to. - Riley Merrifield

As an instructor in the Career and Technical Education field, I know that it is crucial to prepare students for life after school. I also know that it is not everyone’s path to go to college after high school. It is crucial to prepare students for careers that are in demand, such as those in the skilled trades, such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Our school district at Sherwood can always use funding for new equipment to better prepare our students for these skilled trade jobs. As we all know, funding is tight in education. Our school would use this for a band saw, table saw, planer, and other tools to help better prepare our students. I would like to thank you for your consideration and for supporting schools across the metro. - Jon Kirchhoff
