After a loss as soul-crushing as the one the Chiefs' took in the AFC Championship game, it's only natural to look back and wonder about some of the big 'What Ifs.' How could things have turned out differently? What would have happened if one or two things bounced the Chiefs way? Team insider Pete Sweeney joined 610's Fescoe In The Morning this week to name his biggest 'What Ifs.'
"I wonder if Charvarius Ward is able to tackle [Samaje] Perine, and maybe that's just a field goal," he said. "Maybe the Chiefs have a different swagger about them as they're heading down the field in the first half. It seems like on that play, Patrick Mahomes was just not prepared for the 5-second situation, which is so strange to say. I don't understand how there was no awareness there. I still consider him the best quarterback in the league. I think it reminded me of that one primetime game where Tom Brady was throwing up his 4 fingers and thinking it was 3rd down, and it wasn't. It was just a human moment from one of the better quarterbacks in the league, not realizing what he had to do in that situation."
