Chiefs Insider on how team is planning to 'focus on the task at hand'

The entire NFL was stunned on Monday night, when Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after a play early in the game. Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest, was administered CPR, and was swiftly taken to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Although the NFL indefinitely postponed the Bills-Bengals game, the league announced that the rest of Week 18 would proceed as planned. While speaking about the situation with 610's Fescoe In The Morning on Tuesday, Chiefs Insider Pete Sweeney gave his best guess on how the Chiefs would be able to operate under such somber and upsetting circumstances.

"It's a far different Tuesday than we were expecting," he said. " ... Now you've entered, really, a very eerie version of what would be a regular week. And it's an expedited week, at least here in Kansas City. And so a lot of these guys will have a day off around the league tomorrow, but you have four teams playing on Saturday that are probably intensely working today. So even with the Chiefs having to watch that last night – we saw Patrick Mahomes tweeting about it – they've got to get right back to work today. I think if there's anyone that can talk these guys through it and get them back to work, I think it's Andy Reid. I think they're going to have to swallow a little bit here and try to focus on the task at hand. Football is such a mental thing, and pushing through, and I think they'll be okay there."
