(610 Sports) – The Chiefs have selected Washington St. cornerback Jaylen Watson, Rutgers running back Isaiah Pacheco and Marshall safety Nazeeh Johnson in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Watson was a two-time junior college All-American cornerback at Ventura College in California before spending the last two seasons in the Pac-12 with Washington St., where he earned consecutive honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors.
With the pick of Watson at No. 243 overall, the Chiefs mad five selections at defensive back in the draft, three corners and two safeties. Kansas City also selected Washington CB Trent McDuffie, Cincinnati safety Bryan Cook, Fayetteville St. CB Joshua Williams and Marshall CB Nazeeh Johnson.
The No. 251 overall pick, Pacheco is a hard-charging, high-energy runner with three-down size and potential to compete for a roster spot as a late-round selection. He finished his four-year Rutgers career with 2442 rushing yards and 18 TDs on the ground.
Johnson was a two-time All-Conference USA selection who is profiled as an effective and reliable hard-hitter, who possesses rapid play-recognition skills and explosiveness.
The Chiefs made 10 selections in the 2022 NFL Draft, the fifth under Chiefs' GM Brett veach.
