(610 Sports) – With Tyrann Mathieu likely headed elsewhere this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs turned to free agency to find Mathieu's replacement and have reportedly signed former Houston Texans' safety Justin Reid to a three-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Reid's deal with Kansas City is reported to be for three-year and $31.5 million with $20 million guaranteed. The 25-year old Reid is a former third-round draft pick for the Texans out of Stanford in 2018.
Reid, a four-year starter in Houston, had 66 tackles, four pass defenses and two interceptions last season for the Texans. He has amassed 7 career interceptions in 57 games, with 53 starts.
While the skill is clearly their, it will be a tall task replacing Mathieu's leadership and experience in the secondary, if his time in Kansas City is over.
