(610 Sports) – Just a few short days remain before the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles go head-to-head in Super Bowl LVII. One of the last things that either team wants to hear at this point, is that one of their star players is feeling ill. Unfortunately, the Chiefs seemed to be faced with just that scenario.
On Wednesday morning, NFL insider James Palmer reported that Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, along with some teammates, were feeling 'under the weather.'
According to Palmer, Jones said that he was dealing with a sore throat and congestion but vowed to be ready to go on Sunday.
If there is one player on the defensive side of the ball that Kansas City can't afford to be without, it's Jones. The seventh-year defensive lineman is in strong contention for 'Defensive Player of the Year' in the NFL, finishing the regular-season with 15.5 sacks, with another 2 sacks thus far in the playoffs.
Philadelphia boasts one of the top offensive lines in the league, emphasizing the need for a healthy Chris Jones in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs have been extremely effective at getting to the quarterback this season, finishing second in the league in sacks. Regardless, missing Jones on Sunday would leave the Chiefs severely short-handed on defense.
Jones and his teammates have four full days to get right before Super Bowl LVII on Sunday.
