Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will continue to see Andy Reid and the Chiefs in their nightmares.
Buffalo’s season came crashing down Sunday with yet another postseason loss to Kansas City. Tyler Bass’ would-be game-tying field goal went wide right, ending the Bills’ season at the hands of the Chiefs for the third time in the last four years.
There’s a common theme when the Bills and Chiefs face each other in recent memory. If it’s in the regular season, the Bills win. If it’s in the postseason, the Chiefs win. Buffalo has won four of the last five regular season matchups, but always fall in devastating fashion when it matters most.
The Bills are about as snakebitten of a team as could be. Bob Fescoe said Monday on 610 Sports’ Fescoe in the Morning that at this point Bills fans must be resigned to the fact that they just can’t beat the Chiefs on the biggest stage.
“If you’re Buffalo, it’s oh no not again, it’s just we’re never going to do this," Fescoe said. "We’re never, ever, ever going to beat the Kansas City Chiefs when it matters. Buffalo beats the Chiefs in the regular season, they’ll never ever, ever beat Andy and the Chiefs in the playoffs.
“I just can’t imagine every year being the Buffalo Bills thinking you have an opportunity and every year seeing Patrick Mahomes take over, and every year seeing Travis Kelce take over and seeing Isiah Pacheco take over. This to me is just -- I just don’t know how if you’re Buffalo you move on from this. I think they should just contract that franchise. They really need to contract that franchise and start over, because there’s a lot of bad demons.
“You talk about a team that lost four straight Super Bowls. We’re not talking about a team that has this illustrious past of winning. They lost four straight Super Bowls, and now they can’t get out of the way of the Kansas City Chiefs and everything they try, just when it looks like you’re going to have an opportunity to beat them, you Scott Norwood this thing.”
Now, the Chiefs gear up to face the top-seeded Ravens, a team they haven't faced in the playoffs during the Mahomes era.
