(610 Sports) – Patrick Mahomes has done a lot of winning in his career, both on and off the field. From MVP awards to Super Bowl Championships, the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs has made a habit of filling up his trophy case.
Mahomes history of setting records and winning awards dates all the way back to his days at Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, where he was named the Maxpreps 2013-2014 Male Athlete of the Year. As the quarterback of the Texas tech Red Raiders in 2016, Mahomes earned the Sammy Baugh Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation’s top collegiate passer. In the NFL, Mahomes became the first Chiefs' player to win a regular season MVP, add that to being named the 2018 Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl 54 MVP. You see where I'm going with this – Mahomes has won A LOT of awards.
Joining 610 Sports' 'The Drive' for his weekly interview, Mahomes was asked about recently being nominated by the Chiefs for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, thanks to the work he's done with his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.
"I think to me that would be the best thing I’ve won to-date if I was able to get that award, said Mahomes." "To be able to show all the good stuff we’re doing in the community is paying off. Not only for me, but for everyone that works in the foundation, for everybody that receives the benefits for it, just to show that we’re doing everything we can to try to make the world a better place. The history that the Chiefs have with the most players to ever win the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, just to be nominated for it on this team I think is truly special. Super thankful for that because there are a lot of our guys on our team that you can nominate because we have a lot of great guys on this team."
