By now, the idea of a new Royals stadium in downtown Kansas City is more a matter of when than if. The team's ownership group has made a handful of announcements detailing their plans to move away from Kauffman Stadium over the last several weeks, and just this week had a public presentation explaining a bit more of their overall vision. 610's Royals Insider Josh Vernier was at that presentation, and on Wednesday morning, Vernier talked to Fescoe In The Morning about his takeaways from the event, and where things stand on a new ballpark.

"What it really boils down to, and what I heard from most of the people that were out there yesterday, is that it comes down to whether or not you believe John Sherman is a man of his word," he said. "Or if you believe John Sherman is a guy that is solely focused on the bottom line and milking every single dime out of this city as he possibly can. Now, everybody has their own opinion, but personally, getting to know John Sherman and listening to him, every time he talks about this stadium, team, and organization, I maintain that his compass is pointed towards civic pride slightly over ego and money. Now, of course, ego and money plays a factor in it. You don't buy, in my opinion, a professional sports team unless there's some sort of competitive ego inside of you that has you wanted to receive that trophy from the commissioner ... but I do think there's a genuine bond between this city and John Sherman."
