Tyreek Hill: 'We just gotta tip our hat to 'em, put the blame on ourselves'

(610 Sports) – In a game of two halves, the Kansas City Chiefs watched a 21-10 halftime lead slowly slip away, eventually turning into a 3-point deficit with 6:09 left in the 4th quarter. They would come back to tie the game with just 03 seconds remaining, thanks to a clutch 44-yard field goal from Harrison Butker, the Chiefs only points of the second half.

Scoring touchdowns on their first-three possessions of the game, the Chiefs offense was looking like a well oiled machine. Touchdown passes to Mecole Hardman, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce had the Chiefs up 21-3 and looking like they'd be heading to their third-straight Super Bowl.

Following a 41-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to running back Samaje Perine to pull the Bengals within 10, the Chiefs squandered a golden opportunity to put more points on the board before halftime.

With 05 seconds on the clock and sitting at the Bengals 1-yard line, the Chiefs decided to go for a touchdown instead of settling for a field goal.

Patrick Mahomes dropped back to pass but couldn't find an open receiver in the end zone, so he tossed left to Tyreek Hill behind the line of scrimmage. Bengals cornerback Eli Apple was waiting for the speedy wide Hill, stopping him short of the endzone, running out the clock.

Following the loss to Cincinnati, Hill spoke to reporters and the team's inability to put points on the board in the second-half was the hot topic.

"They're a good football team and we knew we had to score some more, put some more points on the board," said Hill, when asked if the team felt like they had already won the game and let up in the second half?

"Obvioulsy, we couldn't do that in the second half," said Hill. "We never had no let down, we wanted to keep scoring, keep putting points on the board and try to put the game away but that's just something we couldn't do in the second half."

"We just gotta tip our hat to 'em, put the blame on ourselves."

For his part, Hill finished the game with 7 catches on 10 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown.
