The Chiefs are set to begin their organized team activities this week, with most of the 90-man roster expected to participate. Though there are plenty of storylines to follow as the team's offseason ramps up over the next few weeks, between limited media availability and uncertain attendance, it's hard to get a great sense on what to expect from OTAs. In a Tuesday morning interview on 610's Fescoe In The Morning, Arrowhead Pride's Pete Sweeny helped detail exactly what to expect from this latest round of football.
"[Andy Reid] wants to get his guys in, get a basis, get a first install in, get an understanding of the offense," he said. "And then when it's time for St. Joseph, they're not seeing it for the first time."
And while Sweeny cautioned against investing too much into a limited set of May workouts, he added that there are still reasons to be excited about what's expected to be pretty close to a full team attendance.
"I think the reasoning is two-fold here for Kansas City," he said. "I think the leadership is really strong. I think Chiefs head coach Andy Reid really dictates just how critical coming to OTAs is. There are some roster bonuses and workout bonuses, more so with than the Chiefs than other teams, and if the guys are not showing up for certain things, these bonuses won't click in."
