Does the Kadarius Toney trade hint at Chiefs' offseason wide receiver plans?

The Chiefs' trade for Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney was made, first and foremost, for the regular season. For all the team's offensive efficiency, wide receiver was still a spot that could use some help, and Toney adds an element that didn't previously exist in that room. But does it also hint at what the team will do this offseason. With Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster both on contract seasons, does the trade for Toney – who has two more seasons on his current contract – mean that either Hardman or JuJu is gone after the year? While speaking to 610's The Drive on Wednesday, Chiefs Insider Pete Sweeney gave his thoughts.

"For me, going off what I believe the Chiefs believe, I believe that they think he can be a legitimate receiver in this league," he said. "And not the Mecole [Hardman] hasn't been, but he's just more of a gadgety-type, orchestrated touch guy at this stage. So I would go no deal at this stage. That could be a mistake though, I'll admit that. I'm cautious with that ... I heard you say a little bit earlier that in an ideal world, Kadarius Toney is Mecole Hardman. I think in an ideal world, Kadarius Toney is JuJu Smith-Schuster, if JuJu walks."
