It's been a tough season for Adalberto Mondesí to say the least. The Royals' shortstop has only appeared in seven games so far, though he's slashed .360/.360/.720 with two home runs, three doubles, and 5 RBI in those games. After being pulled from a game with a hamstring issue on Monday night, it looked like the team might have to go another long stretch of games without him. On Wednesday morning, however, during his weekly radio segment, Royals' manager Mike Matheny said that the team was optimistic that Mondesí may not miss too much time:

"Medical team seems to be encouraged, Mondesí seems to be encouraged," he said. "Just measuring just how bad it is and how he responds each step. I think in the next couple days we're going to have a better feel. He's going to be able to at least monitor how hard he goes. And this is something he's had in the past. He was able to give us about 80% of what he's got. 80% of [Mondesí] is a whole lot better than a lot of other guys in the league, so hopefully he just keeps taking steps forward."
