The Royals have been pretty quiet on the transaction front since the MLB lockout broke, which has fans wondering which the direction GM JJ Picollo and the rest of the front office are going to take the team this upcoming season. Speaking with 610's Cody and Gold on Tuesday, Picollo spoke on where the team stands payroll-wise, and what he sees as the most viable option for spending money going forward.
"We're always going to try and push the limits," he said. "But we also know that there are limits. We're pretty much right where we're projected and expected to be for this season. So you've got to get a little bit creative, you've got to think of different ways to acquire somebody. You might have to make a move on the other end to make the budget meet. I think the thing we have to focus on is who are the players that make us better. And once we identify and potentially acquire the player, then you address what your constraints may be. So we're aware of it, we'll keep working with it."
