It's hard to find someone who's predicting that the Royals are going to make a lot of noise in 2022. There are certainly some exciting aspects of the season that will keep them watchable all summer long -- Zack Greinke, Bobby Witt, and Salvador Perez being chief among them -- but Kansas City still has a roster with more than a couple question marks heading into Opening Day. So how worried should fans really be? Talking with 610's Fescoe In the Morning on Monday, Royals Insider Josh Vernier explained why he's starting to get more and more nervous about the upcoming campaign.
"It hit me last night: this is the time of the year where you better like your depth, and better like your pitching depth and overall organizational depth," he said. "Because if you don't like your team right now, boy, you're in store for a very long summer. To be quite honest, the closer we get to Opening Day, the more nervous I'm getting about this ballclub and their prospects for 2022. Because, other than Salvador Perez and Scott Barlow, what do you feel fairly certain about when it comes to this team in 2022?"
