In a week that also featured the beginning of NFL free agency and the start of the NCAA Tournament, it's telling that the biggest news out of Kansas City was the return of Zack Greinke. Greinke, who started his Hall of Fame career with the Royals, returned on a one-year deal, and the excitement within the fan base has been palpable ever since. Speaking on Fescoe In the Morning on Monday, 610's Royals Insider Josh Vernier explained how that excitement has been obvious within the clubhouse, too.
"It's been very obvious since coming to Kansas City that not only is he ready to teach, but he is embracing this role as the Hall of Famer insider the clubhouse," Vernier said. And if you watched the game on television, you saw Daniel Lynch standing alongside Zack Greinke for a cool 45 minutes inside that dugout, picking his brain on what he saw during Lynch's side session and bullpen session the other day. I spoke with Brady Singer about his interactions with Greinke, and he just laughed and said 'this guy's a literal genius...'"
