I hope you're ready to see the Royals hats that I'm about to show you. They are, in a word, bold:

It's a lot. Whether you love them or hate them, you have to admit that it is, objectively, a lot. There are a lot of patches, and numbers, and contrasting colors. There is a pig, and there is a saxophone, and there is the 1985 World Series patch. All right there on a baseball hat. It's a lot. It also, somewhat notably, omits the Royals' home area code. Certainly a choice! Can you guess how Twitter reacted? I bet you can guess how Twitter reacted:
This #royals New Era hat is like the charm bracelet your aunt got you in fifth grade. She knows you play something in band so it's a saxophone for your birthday and you definitely live in Missouri, so you get a flag and state charm for Christmas. pic.twitter.com/Bta4JVFSBQ

In the team's defense, these were designed by New Era, so it's not really their fault. They were also great sports about it:
And also, the hats might already be gone forever?
We'll keep you updated on what looks to be the next big story of 2021.
