In a bit of probably-unsurprising news, the Royals announced this week that Zack Greinke would be their Opening Day starter. Greinke, who signed a one-year, $13 million contract to return to Kansas City, will be on the bump at Kauffman Stadium when the Royals open their season against the Cleveland Guardians a week from today. The last time he started an Opening Day game for the Royals was in 2005, against the Detroit Tigers. As for the 2022 announcment, Royals Twitter was predictably amped:
