I was riding Amtrak business class (assigned seating) from New Haven to Newark on Friday when something happened that honestly still has me emotional. A woman sitting next to me on the train revealed that her husband accidentally butt-dialed her the night before and she overheard him having an affair. The crazy part? I wasn't even supposed to be sitting next to her.
I had originally boarded and found another woman sitting in my assigned seat. She asked if I’d switch so she and her family could sit together, and I agreed. That simple little moment put me next to someone who was experiencing almost the exact same heartbreak I went through. We bonded over divorce, betrayal, cancer, healing, survival and starting over after 25 years of marriage. She was terrified and didn’t know what to do next, and I found myself telling her the same things people once told me: trust your gut, you are not crazy, and your best life is still be ahead of you. Before we got off the train, I gave her my number and told her she wasn’t alone.
I shared the story on TikTok and the response has been unbelievable. Thousands of people are sharing their own stories and saying the same thing: maybe we were supposed to end up in those seats together that day. 🎥 Watch the full story below:

What started as me stressing over my wig on the way to see my boyfriend turned into one of the most emotional conversations I’ve ever had with a complete stranger.
