Every week, Christine and Salt interview the Badass Woman of the Week, celebrating women who've conquered challenges and emerged stronger. The honoree receives an empowering B Badass bracelet from The Power to B and is showcased on-air Fridays at 7:15 AM with Christine and Salt.
Meet this week's Badass Woman of the Week: Dev Do from Avon. Dev is an extraordinary individual who conquered formidable challenges to achieve a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Hartford, establish a thriving career at Pratt & Whitney, and proudly own and operate The Chic Spa in Avon as a highly skilled permanent makeup artist. She is an amazing wife and mom whose voyage to this country from communist Vietnam is nothing short of remarkable.
Dev's journey began with her parents' unwavering determination to seek a better life in the United States. At just thirteen years old, she found herself adrift at sea for a whole week, later apprehended and enduring a month in a prison camp. It was during these trying times that the kindness of strangers on an oil rig paved her path to Malaysia, from where she eventually made her way to the United States.

Despite grappling with language barriers, Dev excelled both academically and professionally. Her positive outlook drives her accomplishments in engineering and the beauty industry. She attributes her success to sheer determination and being willing to fail, "failure is success...if you make a mistake and you learn from it, then you're golden. A lot of people talk about success in this life, but what they don't talk about is the failure, how many times you fall down and get back up...that's the key."
Dev Do's heroic passage from Vietnam to badass business owner of The Chic Spa in Avon is truly inspiring. Check out her interview with Christine and Salt below!
Full disclosure, Christine Lee has had her eyebrows done by Dev and is a huge fan of this Badass Woman of the Week!
