This week, we’re honoring Melissa Shaffer, a woman turning love, loss, and determination into real action in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

After losing her stepmom, Caryl Goldman, to early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2021, Melissa chose to channel her grief into advocacy. She became a virtual Community Educator and has participated in Ride to End ALZ® for two years. This year marks her third ride, and her most personal yet, as she rides 30 miles in New England in Caryl’s honor.

Melissa is raising money to support the work of the Alzheimer’s Association, helping fund research toward treatment, prevention, and ultimately a cure. With nearly 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s and 11 million caregiverssupporting them, her mission couldn’t be more urgent.

Alongside her training, Melissa launched a Super Bowl Squares fundraiser to raise awareness and support her cause. She says every mile—and every effort—helps keep her “why” front and center.

Because when it comes to Alzheimer’s research, the ideas are there — what’s needed are the dollars. And Melissa Shaffer is riding with purpose to help move that future forward. 💜🚴‍♀️
