This week we’re recognizing Shannon Raymond — a full-time mechanical engineer, mom of three teenage girls, volunteer firefighter, volunteer EMT, a dog foster and newly remarried!
After her divorce, Shannon decided to fill her time with something meaningful. She joined her local fire department with low expectations of what she could do as a woman in the field — and then proved herself completely wrong. She went on to become an interior firefighter, earned her EMT certification, joined rope rescue, and learned swift water rescue. She shows up when her community needs her most.
And at home? Her family has fostered 58 dogs in three years. Yes — 58.
Shannon is almost always one of the only women in the room, both at work and as a first responder. She uses that to inspire other women, reminding them they are capable of so much more than they think.
Congratulations to Shannon — our Badass Woman of the Week.
