From Wolcott to the podium — Sophie Milhomens is making waves in a BIG way.

The Central Connecticut State University swimmer just captured gold in the 200 Backstroke at the 2026 NEC Swimming & Diving Championship, charging home in the back half of the race to win in 1:59.14. Not only did she take the top spot, she helped lead the Blue Devils to a medal sweep in the event.

CCSU finished second overall at the championship — just 19 points shy of the team title — scoring an impressive 837 points. And Sophie? She was a huge part of that success, contributing to six event victories for the Blue Devils.

But beyond the medals, Sophie keeps it grounded. She credits her family for supporting her swimming career — especially her mom, who she proudly calls “the world’s biggest swimming fanatic.” 💙

And yes, we had to ask about the hair and skin routine — because chlorine is no joke. Sophie laughs and says she keeps it simple and old school: Pond’s cold cream for her face and Aquaphor.

Fast in the pool. Humble out of it. Family-first.
