A window-washing empire was supposed to start in Georgia and make its way to Connecticut. It never made it out of Georgia. Thankfully, Ian knows a lot more about baseball than windows.
If you’ve listened to Christine & Salt for any length of time, you’ve probably heard Christine talk about her son Ian. This summer, the college baseball pitcher returned home from Georgia with a story that perfectly captures the optimism—and occasional chaos—of being in your early 20s.
Ian and a buddy were going to start a window-washing business in Georgia, build it up, and eventually bring the operation to Connecticut. Then reality struck. Before the first window was washed, before the first customer was booked, and before the business could even think about crossing state lines, Ian’s business partner ghosted him. The entire operation lasted exactly one state. Fortunately, Ian has since pivoted to something he actually knows — baseball.
Ian played Division I collegiate baseball and is currently a college pitcher throwing over 90 miles per hour. He’s trained with some of the country’s top development programs, including Tread Athletics, VeloU, and Cressey Sports Performance. Christine & Salt recently caught up with him, and Ian handled questions about the failed startup exactly as you’d expect from a laid-back Gen Zer—without a hint of concern. The lost $50? Water under the bridge. The ghosting business partner? Ancient history. The baseball coaching? That’s where his focus is now. So if you’re looking for baseball instruction this summer, Ian’s your guy. f you’re looking for someone to wash your windows… maybe wait for Startup 2.0. 😂⚾💙
