This week’s Badass Woman of the Week is 25-year-old Victoria Michaud, the woman behind the Middletown salon, Vicky Scissorhands — and for Victoria, doing hair is about a whole lot more than a great cut and color. Vicky graduated hair school during COVID and started working in salons in 2020. Then in December 2025, she took the leap and opened her own space in Middletown. From the beginning, Vicky knew exactly what she wanted it to be: a place where everybody feels safe, welcomed and cared for.
She doesn’t price haircuts based on gender. She offers gender-affirming cuts. And whether you’re coming in for a cut, color or a completely new look, her goal is to make sure you can walk through the door and simply be yourself. For Vicky, equality and human rights aren’t a marketing slogan — she says they’re at the core of her business. At just 25, she’s built a business around talent, inclusion and giving back to the community. And yes, Vicky Scissorhands is a play on Edward Scissorhands. Victoria says she was inspired by the movie because Edward has such main-character energy — he’s different, unmistakably himself and completely unique.
