Ross and Rachel, the “Friends” main couple, went through many ups and downs, but as fans knew all along, they were bound to end up together.
In real life, a romance almost blossomed between costars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer.
During HBO Max’s “Friends: The Reunion” special, James Corden, the host, asked whether any of the cast members of the sitcom ever were involved in off-screen romances with each other, People reported.
Both Aniston and Schwimmer quickly gave their answers.
“I mean, the first season, I had a major crush on Jen. At some point, we were crushing hard on each other,” Schwimmer said. “But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
Aniston then shared a conversation she had with Schwimmer about their first kiss in the show.
She continued, “So we just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
Schwimmer also recalled when he and Aniston would cozy up to each other during the first couple of years. He mentioned how they were moments when they would cuddle on the couch.
“We would spoon and fall asleep on the couch,” Aniston added.
On the screen, a video was shown of a time they snuggled together. Schwimmer said, “I’m thinking, ‘How did not everyone know we were crushing on each other?’”
Both Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry both agreed everyone “knew” they had a crush on each other.
On the adored sitcom, fans got the chance to see Aniston and Schwimmer’s characters go through an on-and-off romance until the series finale. In season 8, the couple welcomed a daughter named Emma together.
And… the rest is history.
