Kevin Costner wasn’t physically able to be at January’s Golden Globes ceremony but he still gave an acceptance speech.

Mass flooding in California prevented Costner and his family from attending the ceremony and the moment Regina Hall announced his name to come up and accept his trophy for best actor in a TV drama on “Yellowstone.”
Costner has now finally given an acceptance speech, from the comfort of his own bed. On a video posted to his social media Costner thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and their support of his career. He also detailed how he watched the ceremony as it was happening from home with his wife Christine and their kids.
“Because of the flooding, we got cut off in Ventura and up here in Montecito,” he said. “We felt so horrible about that and there was just nothing we could do, and we watched the time, like a sand in a bottle, go out as our chances dimmed of getting there.”
Costner’s wife even headed to a local store to get balloons so the family could at least celebrate a little bit.
“We watched the whole doggone thing and my kids heard our name be called, and we weren’t at one of the greatest parties in the world. We wanted to be but we found ourself together as a family. My children heard my name called and they stood up and they cheered,” the “Field of Dreams” actor said.
Costner then unboxed his award, again lamenting the fact he wasn’t able to be there that night.
