New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - Avelo Airlines is announcing non-stop service from Tweed-New Haven Airport to the Carribean.
Flights will originate at Tweed to San Juan, Puerto Rico at an introductory price of $99 one way.
Officials were on hand at Tweed for Tuesday's announcement.
Currently, Avelo is offering 18 non-stops from New Haven.
Avelo chairman and CEO Andrew Levy says it's a game changer for the large Puerto Rican community in Connecticut who want to travel to the island.
Beginning November 15, Avelo will run the route twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
