NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Department of Transportation is giving Connecticut residents the gift of an Uber discount code this holiday season to encourage people to not get behind the wheel while drunk or impaired.
Starting November 23, people can use the code SAVETHENIGHTCT in the Uber app between the hours of 5 p.m. and 4 a.m. to get a $10 discount on a ride.

"Traffic fatalities are increasing at an unprecedented rate. It is a real crisis. If you, or someone you know, needs a sober ride, please, opt for a ride and use this $10 Uber discount code to save the night and potentially save a life," Department of Transportation Commissioner Joseph Giulietti said.
Connecticut is one of only five states to receive a grant from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), in partnership with Uber, to make the program possible, according to state officials.
The discount code is available through January 14, 2022.
