Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Dennis "DJ" Hernandez has been sentenced to time served after taking a plea bargain last December for making threatening statements on several separate occasions on Facebook.

The brother of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez pled guilty to making interstate threats.

On July 6 and 7, 2023, DJ Hernandez stated on Facebook Messenger he planned to carry out a shooting at UConn.

About two weeks later, he threatened to harm or kill three people out-of-state including a judge.

As part of the agreement, DJ Hernandez is to continue mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Aaron Hernandez took his own life in prison eight years ago.

At the time, he was serving a sentence for the killing of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
