Fire Chief Richard Hart says the complex at 43 Main Street was home to several businesses, including the popular Crystal Diner, a pizza restaurant and dance studio, among others.
He says those businesses are a total loss but they were able to stop the blaze from advancing further.
Hart says they can't say for certain how the fire started.
That will be up to investigators, as well as the local and state fire marshals.
No injuries were reported and Hart says Main Street at South and School Streets are expected to closed indefinitely.
