On the same day that Audacy's "I'm Listening" returns to resume the
conversation on mental health, there is word of new ways in which Connecticut's capital city is also listening.
Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin has announced a citywide self-care initiative focused on mental health throughout the community.
At the heart of it is a meditation and mindfulness app called from a Wethersfield based firm, Headspace.
A press release from Bronin's office says all Hartford residents will be given free access to the app.
Bronin says that just as is the case with communities across the country, Hartford has seen a "huge increase in anxiety and depression in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic."
While Bronin says there is no magic bullet to the problem, "data demonstrates that mindfulness and self-care practices can make a real difference."
