Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Governor Lamont is requesting federal drought declaration status for two more Connecticut counties.
He has submitted the latest request to the Department of Agriculture for Litchfield and New Haven Counties.
Last month, the agency approved primary disaster status for New london and Windham counties.
Hartford, Middlesex and Tolland counties were also designated contiguous counties, making farmers eligible for assistance from the Farm Service Agency, including low-interest loans.
Part of the threshold for consideration is a 30-percent loss of any one crop.
