Ledyard, Conn./WTIC Radio - A Ledyard man is facing charges after police say neighbors complained to them the suspect was digging up their yard and accusing them of being pirates.
The incident occurred Saturday.
Investigators say around 10:14 a.m. they received a call that Mark Uterstaedt of Sunset Avenue walked to the callers residence saying he owned the neighborhood and that the neighbors were pirates.
When confronted by the caller's husband, police say Uterstaedt began hurling obscenitites at him and the couple's young children.
Officers say Uterstaedt also swung a rock rake menacingly in their direction.
Police say Uterstaedt told them he dug up the yard because he thought the neighbors were installing a water line.
He's charged with threatening, risk of injury, criminal mischief, brach of peace and trespass.
