Plainfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man who was apparently intoxicated at a Plainfield hotel and who allegedly assaulted police officers is facing charges.
Police say they responded to the Quality Inn on Lathrop Road a little after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers say hotel staff spotted Alfred Herbert, 43, trying to find his room.
Herbert had multiple lacerations and blood on his face, say police.
A hotel employee said an altercation ensued when they tried to bring Herbert back to his room.
When police arrived, they found Herbert unresponsive but when he came to, declined medical attention.
As he was being escorted out of the hotel, police say Herbert yelled and spat on officers, assuming a fighting stance.
They say he attempted to grab an officer's taser and attempted to grab another officer's firearm once in the police cruiser.
Hebert was charged with Assault on a Public Safety Officer, Interfering with an Officer, and Disorderly Conduct.
He was released on $50,000 bond and is due in court February 18th.
