Man accused of setting fire to apartment building

West Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is being charged after West Hartford police say he deliberately set fire to his apartment on Friday.

They say Roman Ruben, 48, told them he torched the apartment on Caya Avenue to harm others.

Firefigthers were called to the building just after 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

They found heavy smoke coming from a third-floor window of the four-story structure.

Arson detectives were called in and Ruben showed up at Hartford police headquarters several hours later to confess to setting the fire.

Ruben faces charges of criminal attempt at arson murder, arson, reckless endangerment, and risk of injury.

Bond was set at $1.5 million.
