Windsor Locks, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Windsor Locks police are charging a man after they say he assaulted an elderly woman out for an exercise walk/jog this morning.
Forty-year-old Alexander Russell is charged with assault on an elderly person and reckless endangerment.
Detectives say at around 10:00 a.m., the suspect attacked the 70-year-old woman from behind with a closed fist on Old Country Road.
Police received a 911 call that a male had just assaulted a woman.
Russell was spotted on State Police property and held there for Windsor Locks officers.
Bond has been set at $150,000.
The victim is in the hospital being treated for a head injury and broken fingers sustained in her fall, according to police.
