
Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - State police are charging a Brockton, Massachusetts man after they say he was clocked driving over 100 mph on a stretch of Interstate 84 on Sunday.
They say just after 1:00 p.m., troopers spotted a Chevy SUV on the right shoulder by westbound exit 44.
The vehicle left the area but was spotted later another trooper driving 122 MPH in a 65 MPH zone by exit 37 in Farmington.
the driver, Carlos Gallegos-Loja, 23, showed signs of impairment and had open alcoholic containers that were found in the vehicle.
Gallegos-Loja told police he pulled over to drink a beer.
He failed a field sobriety tesst and was arrested.
Charges include reckless driving, DUI, drivinng without a license and drinking while driving.
Gallegos-Loja is free on bond and due in court next month.
