Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Meriden

Meriden, Conn./WTIC Radio - Meriden police are calling a person arrested following a fatal shooting in the city Monday night a person of interest.

For now, police are charging Warren Watson, 33, with probation violation.

It was around 6:00 p.m. Monday officers responded to West Main Street on shots fired report.

Thirty-year-old Shawn Mojica and another woman were found in a vehicle in which a gun was found.

Mojica later died.  The female victim is expected to survive.

Watson, meantime, was found in a vehicle parked on Grove Street, police said.

Officers later found a gun in a Grove Street apartment.

Watson was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound.

He was subsequently charged with five counts of probation violation, bond of which was set at $500,000.

The suspect was also charged with operating a motor vehicle under suspension, which carries an additional $25,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing.
