Plainfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - Plainfield police are charging a man after they say he ran into a sign on their property Tuesday.
They didn't have far to go to investigate the crash.
Officers were alerted to the crash by a police dispatcher.
They stepped outside of their headquarters building on Norwich Road just before 4:00 p.m.
There, they found a Honda Accord belonging to 30-year-old Mason Heath of Central Village.
Officers say he was headed northbound when he lost control of the vehicle, striking the department sign, base, and landscape on scene.
Police say Heath failed a sobriety test, and later refused a pair of breath tests.
He's charged with failure to maintain proper lane, traveling unreasonably fast and operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Bond was set at $10,000.
