Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - Middletown's mayor is stepping down.
Democrat Ben Florsheim's resignation is effective June 16.
He was in the middle of his second term, having first been elected in 2019, then winning reelection four years later.
Florsheim was the youngest mayor in city history when he was first elected.
No official reason has been given for his decision.
Per charter, the city council president will assume the mayoral duties until a special election is called.
